About
Bianca Salvo (*1986) is an Italian artist living and working in Bogotá. She achieved her MA in Photography from the London College of Communication in 2012, and prior to that, she obtained a BA in Visual Art & Photography from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan in 2010. She has previously served as a lecturer in Creative Research in Photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and currently holds a position as a photography lecturer at the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá. Oscillating between the factual and the fictional, her work mainly explores the connections between beliefs and the image. Through a combination of staged photography, archival footage, written documents, books, found objects, installations, and videos, she examines the role played by the Western gaze in shaping evidence and constructing idealistic scenarios of civilization.
